What to say and what not to say in your next email marketing campaign
Sometimes, I get newsletters and marketing messages via email that have everything except a clear call to action. They're beautifully designed, and a real joy to read, and they get me in the mood to do something, but sadly I have no idea what the sender expects me to do.
I don't know where to click, what link to follow or how and where to order. I’m reminded of the old line “I’m all dressed up with nowhere to go.”
Create a Clear Call to Action in Email Marketing Campaigns
One of the crucial elements of any email marketing campaign is a clear call to action. Design and clearly explain exactly what you want the recipients of your message to do, and then make sure that you present that message so that it makes the pathway clear and easy for the recipient to follow.
An example of a good, clear call to action is a message that won’t distract its reader with too many links or offers, and makes not only the call to action clear but also what recipients can expect when they click through. This can be as simple as "Click here for a 25% discount on your next visit to us."
Email Marketing has to be clear and to the point. Another important point is to use strong emotive words and not exclamation marks in your email copy. Remember the path to successful email marketing is not paved with exclamation marks.
Always use an easy to see and use un-subscribe facility in your message. Unhappy subscribers are worse than no subscribers. An easy and fail-safe way to unsubscribe is a sure way to make subscribers happy.
